Shadow Shot Sunday #31

Hi All
Here's a pic I took a few weeks ago at the wonderful Southbank Parklands swimming area. It is of Sax and his good friend Anouk having a wander after they had been swimming? I wish I was a bit closer to have heard what there conversation was about ;) I am sure Sax was trying to persuade Nouka to go and chase birds in the garden...
Don't forget to go and check out more of the fabulous Shadow Shots over at Hey Harriets

Have a happy week everyone, Bel x

Toasty Little Monster & big changes ahead!

Well I have been pretty slack on the blogging front lately so I thought I should update you all on what has been happening in my life lately. Not only is being 28 weeks pregnant excitement enough but hubby and I thought we would buy a house just to keep things interesting. It’s been a few years since we have been in the property market and with interest rates the way they are at the moment in Oz we thought it was too good an opportunity to pass up. So my days lately have been filled with packing/cleaning and trying to keep our 2 year old entertained at the same time in order to have everything ready to move over the Easter break.

Now being on a pretty tight budget has meant that I have been doing my research and shopping around for those bits and pieces I want to buy to make our transition into the new house that little bit nicer, needless to say a shopping trip to IKEA was in store for us last week and it gave me the chance to meet up with a good friend Kate and her two adorable kids Anouk and baby Oscar. Sax was lucky enough to get a lovely pressie care of Kate and her mum in the way of a lovely warm dressing gown which I am sure is going to come in handy as the weather gets colder. He is fascinated with the little spacey alien/monsters all over it and insists on wearing it around the house most days (even though weather is still quite warm). To break up our routine today I thought a batch of cupcakes for morning tea was in order. I had some leftover Passionfruit butter from the batch I made for the markets a few weeks ago so what better a filling topped off with some whipped vanilla cream, Yumo! I have also been meaning to share a pic of a little bird brooch that I made a few weeks ago on my way to the BrisStyle catch-up. I actually caught the train for the first time in quite a while and it gave me a lovely hour to myself to just sit and sew which was really nice. I also made a couple of other little birds, one for Em and for the lovely Robyn of Hotfudge which I included in the BrisStyle present swap. One last thing to share, Em and I also found some spare time to whip up some more felt hairclips for the markets a few weeks ago (our stocks were getting quite low). I will hopefully find some time to list some new ones on our ETSY store over the next few weeks. I also made some more pony tail holders (most of which have sold which is great!) so I will need to order some more covers and hopefully will get the chance to make another batch after our move. Hope you all have a happy week, take care

Fabric Stamping and a prototype Bag

I have been thinking that fabric stamping is very cool for a long time, so during the week, Lucas and I donned our smocks and got out a rubber stamp and some calico and my paints and made this lovely piece of hand-stamped fabric.

After he had gone to bed that night, and I was very tired, but couldnt sleep, I decided that I would make a bag out of the fabric as a test run for the one that I am making at our Brown Owl's meetup on Sunday. Here it is, fully lined, cute vintage button. A bit rough but I like it as it was made with heaps of love. Glad I tried it out too as the one I make on Sunday is for transporting all my Owlie loveliness to and from our catch-ups so I will have to make it a bit deeper to fit all the bits and pieces I need in there!

Have a good day and I will be back tomorrow for shadow shot.

I feel like I have accomplished lots today, Have made 2 loaves of banana bread and a batch of cornflake cookies are in the oven. My lovely Physio El is on her way up to fix my exscruciating hip/neck/back problem (which has been in turn causing a mega headache) and then it will be off to vote. Then we have some clients coming over for a meeting this afternoon. So another busy day! But I love weekends

See you all tomorrow for SSS

What's been happening around here

Hi everyone!!

Well time flies. It seems that it is almost the end of another week and I know I am not the only one watching the days/weeks/months fly past in a blur.

Bel & I will both be swaddling our new little bundles in only a matter of months (exciting but scary all the same)....

Here's what has been happening at my place this week (and last)
Lucas has been toilet training (see supplies pic below)

I had a day of non-stop cleaning the first day, but after that he has actually really suprised me at how quickly he has picked it all up, what a treasure. He even jumped out of the wave pool at Wet 'n Wild yesterday and told me he had to do a wee, so we ran to the garden and to my delight (not the hovering groundsmans) he did his first "bush wee"

I also visited the good old Spotlight 20% off sale and got myself some lovely fabric.

The japanese looking one and the red are for the new baby's nappy bag and the green cutting board stuff (which i adore) and the flowers are for my tote bag project for this weekend's Brown Owl's meet-up.

I also thought I would share these beauties that my sister gave to me from Funky Fabrix for my birthday, just can't decide what to do with them, and look at the divine bakelite buttons.

As Lucas is having a sleep it is time for me to run around with my magic wand, so I will chat to you all soon, have a great rest of the week and keep safe.

Shadow Shot Sunday # 28

Hi everyone,
This weekend my family and I spent the weekend at beautiful Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast. It was a nice time away for us as a threesome before the fourth arrives....

My shadow this week is of our "sundial" sculpture on our back deck, pretty cool shadow it throws off dont you think.

Also, here is another shadow I took today, my 22wk bump. Makes me look skinny and fat in all the right places ;-) I think I should take all of my photos like this in the future.

For more shadow shots or to join in the fun visit Hey Harriet here.

Cute as a Button - Baby Bobby Pin Sets

Hi everyone,

Well it has been on the workdesk for a while now, and I have had all the supplies... but I have finally finished a few sets of the most divine little Baby Bobby Pins.

The covered button is only 1.27cm wide and the pin is 3.81cm (1.5") I have used hairdressing quality bronze bobby pins which took a lot of lab testing to discover these are of the highest quality and actually hold on to your hair really well.
They are priced for the recession at only $3/set (of 4) and OMG I can't wait to share some pics soon of them in a little bubs hair!!

Here is a snapshot of the sets that are for sale in our Etsy store now.... more to follow soon
