Sunday Shadow Shot #42

Well what a weekend we had last weekend. We finally visited the famous Australia Zoo and had a fantastic time. A favorite for Sax was the Kangaroos (this one had a little joey in her pouch)... But he also had a really great time overall as did we all, he even got to try his first ice cream in a cone which he thoroughly enjoyed ;) I would highly recommend anyone who is in the area going for a look
We also went to a good friend's little girls birthday party. Anouk turned 3rd last Saturday, so hard to believe 3 years have passed since we visited that tiny little bundle, but it was so lovely to see her and Sax playing in the backyard with the neighbourhood kids.
I even got the chance to test out some of my cake decorating course skills by making some decorations for the Dora the Explorer Birthday Cake that Kate made.
As always, make sure you go and checkout some of the other amazing Shadow Shots over at Hey Harriets and don't forget to visit the BrisStyle Blog as 2 more fantastic giveaways go up for offer on August 1st
Have a happy week, Bel xx

Shadow Shot #41

Hi everyone,

What a lovely winter's day we have had here today!! gorgeous weather, not too chilly with lovely soul warming sun.

Life here has been going so quickly, Elijah will be a month old this wednesday! wow. Unfortunatley we have all had a bout of the flu and that has knocked us around a bit, but are all now pretty much germ free! yippee!

My Shadow Shot for today was taken in our kitchen, it is the shadows being cast by our lovely stools...

Now, do you remember those cute little chickens that we brought home from kindy at the end of April?? Guess what... I jagged it! They are all hens (listen to the whoot) anyways, here is a picture of how big they are now, hopefully not long until the girls start laying us some lovely fresh eggs.

Have a great weekend everyone, off to the lounge for me to make some more Kittys.

Shadow Shot Sunday #40

Well in keeping with the 'baby theme' that our blog seems focused on at the moment (not surprising with two newborns) I thought I would share some more pics of Xavier. I couldn't decide which pic I liked best so thought I would post both (I just love that little button nose shadow)Make sure you check out more fantastic shadow shots over at Hey Harriets Blog and I promise we will have some crafting pics soon (and some new's on a market we will be attending in a couple of months ;)
Take care, Bel x

Loving 2

My precious boys Elijah & Lucas

Loving Two

I walk along holding your 2-year-old hand,

basking in the glow of our magical relationship.

Suddenly I feel a kick from within,

as if to remind me that our time alone is limited.

And I wonder: how could I ever love another child as I love you?

Then he is born, and I watch you.

I watch the pain you feel at having to share me as you’ve never shared me before.

I hear you telling me in your own way, “Please love only me”.

And I hear myself telling you in mine, “I can’t”, knowing, in fact, that I never can again.

You cry. I cry with you.

I almost see our new baby as an intruder on the precious relationship we once shared.

A relationship we can never quite have again.

But then, barely noticing,

I find myself attached to that new being, and feeling almost guilty.

I’m afraid to let you see me enjoying him, as though I am betraying you.

But then I notice your resentment change, first to curiosity, then to protectiveness, f

inally to genuine affection.

More days pass, and we are settling into a new routine.

The memory of days with just the two of us is fading fast.

But something else is replacing those wonderful times we shared, just we two.

There are new times – only now, we are three.

I watch the love between you grow, the way you look at each other, touch each other.

I watch how he adores you – as I have for so long.

I see how excited you are by each of his new accomplishments.

And I begin to realize that I haven’t taken something from you,

I’ve given something to you.

I notice that I am no longer afraid to share my love openly with both of you.

I find that my love for each of you is as different as you are, but equally strong.

And my question is finally answered, to my amazement.

Yes, I can love another child as much as I love you – only differently.

And although I realize that you may have to share my time,

I now know you’ll never share my love.

There’s enough of that for both of you – you each have your own supply.
I love you – both.

And I thank you both for blessing my life.
