It's getting hot...

And I am not just talking about the weather! Wow 10 days without blogging thats gotta mean I have been busy. Last week went by in a blur and now another week closer to the BrisStyle market on Dec 5th and I really am starting to freak out

Although on a good note, it has been hot hot hot in my kitchen lately...

I have been working on something new for our next market stall - DIY Cookies - Yep thats right, its all ready to go (even comes with a wooden spoon) just add the wet ingredients (instuctions provided) and hey presto a yummy batch on chocy cookies ready to enjoy!I think these will make fantastic presents and all Saxon's Kindy teachers will be getting one this year (along with one of Jetta's Nest AMAZING Christmas cards ;)

We will have a limited number of these available on Dec 5th so if you are interested and would like to pre-book an order just send us an email or leave a comment on this blog and we will be in contact.

Also last week I had to privlidge of making some engagement cupcakes for the very talented Chris of LittleChrissy fame and her partner Damien. We went along to share a lovely afternoon in the park and partake in a sausage or two and a lovely time was had by all (especially Sax). It reminded me of just how much I love to bake and create and I will have some very exciting news to share in the coming weeks (just a little something that I have been working on, so stay tuned ;)
Hope you all have a great week and manage to keep cool

Take care, Bel x

P.s stay tuned for more details of what we have been working on for the markets on December 5th and if you haven't already make sure you pop over to the BrisStyle Blog for a chance to take part in our giveaway :)

The week that was...

Well its been one of those full on weeks at our place... Sunday was Xavier and Elijah's Christening and it was a really lovely service and great day shared with our friends and family :) (I dont have any pics of Elijah but will get Em to post some soon ;)The week was spent hanging out with my brother and doing some op shopping. I picked up and old metal Janome sewing machine for only $30 (so now I just have to brush up on my sewing skills) as well as some other cool finds, including an old tea towel my brother brought for me which I am going to frame and hang in our house. I was also lucky enough to spend some crafty time with my super talented Bro and get a headstart on making some stock for the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market coming up on December 5th.

Talking of framing I had the surprise of my life this week when I received an email from the lovely Alicea from Bespoke Press to say that I was the winner of their amazing giveaway of 10 limited edition Prints. I never win ANYTHING, so to not only win but to receive this amazing prize as you can imagine I was pretty excited!!! You can view the entire range via their website or shop

Em and I also got the chance to catch up a couple of times this week which was really nice as we really haven't had the chance to hang out as much as we use to lately. Our little ones were happy just hanging around
While their older brothers did some Caterpillar making with my brother Brett
Today I went and hung out with the super cool Brown Owls girls and got the chance to make some really cute little paper dolls and the amazing Sam from Jettas nest brought along an order for Em and I for some onesies and T-shirts for our boys. If you are looking for a one off gift for a little boy you know make sure you go and visit Sam's shop to see her unbelievable work!
All in all even though I am really exhausted this week it was so nice to just spend some time with friends and family enjoying each others company and some good food...
Take care, Bel x

Racecourse Rd Street Party Wrap Up!

Well sorry it’s taken me so long to report back on our success at the Racecourse Road Street Party from a few weeks ago, but I have been really enjoying some down time (although I have to say getting back into a few hectic weeks of crafting prior to the market really made me remember how much I do love it and I am going to try and fit a little bit more crafting into everyday life, or that’s the plan anyway)

Anyway enough rambling, EmBelISH had a fantastic day in not only sales but a lot of our new products were also pretty well received and I was really pleased with our stall layout as well.

It was a super hot, bust day and the crowds were a plenty. Luckily there was a yummy lemonade man just a few stalls down from us that kept us going in the heat.

I also got to do a little bit of shopping (I am saving my pennies for the December 5th BrisStyle Indie Designers Market) I just couldn’t help myself. I got a couple of beautiful little wooden brooches from Up In Annies Room and also picked up an order from Sam at Jetta’s nest of a new Robot Tee for Sax and then just to fuel Sax’s obsession with Robots I grabbed him a little Cuddlebot too (which I must add even had to go to kindy for sleep time last week) I finally grabbed a little Button head brooch for me ;)
Lola Button Head Brooch

And there was some great entertainment throughout the day to keep us occupied as well.
The BrisStyle Co-op stall was a great success also and it was so lovely to see so many talented BrisStylettes coming together to showcase their wares and it was also super nice to meet a lot of these lovely ladies in person as well. It was also great to see all the BrisStyle Stalls all lined up with our Green and Purple balloons linking us together!

I also have to say it was so fantastic to share a site for the day with the amazing Ali of Jellygnite and Little Jellygnite fame, she was such a great partner and helped to make the day go that little bit faster, and also to my amazing sister in-law Kym who was our chief helper and baby sitter extraordinaire and last but not least to our little helper, Xavier who not only helped draw in the crowds was a also a super good boy even though it was such a hot sweaty day J

Counting down now until Dec 5th!!!!

Take care, Bel x

p.s I will be back soon with a recipe for Nan’s cream puffs YUM!

The Nesting Phase is setting in....

Well after feeling like we were living in a Chinese laundry all weekend, I think the nesting phase of my pregnancy is starting to set in :)

With Sax I had the nursery done and organised by the time I was about 6 months pregnant but with poor baby number 2 (especially after finding out it was another boy) I have been so relaxed about the whole thing that I had done NOTHING until about a week ago, then over the last weekend things got kicked into overdrive. The bassinet is made ready and waiting, just in case we have an early arrival (you never know Em).
I think I did about 10 loads of washing and now hanging in little man number 2's wardrobe are 80 outfits in size's 000 & 00 (can you believe it, this child needs absolutely nothing!!!) the toy box is stocked with baby toys, rattles and the like and I have even started getting my hospital bag semi organised. I have warned my mum to tell anyone that listens NOT to buy any clothes or toys as we just don't have any more room (surely how much can one baby use, I think it would be safe to say lucky if Sax had wore each outfit twice before he got too big) and don't get me started on the 40 odd pairs of newborn socks waiting in the drawer (not sure what I was thinking there, maybe that our washing machine was going to break down in the middle of summer, heaven forbid!)

Today was very exciting I took a quick trip into the city and visited Funky Fabrix and brought this great Car Beetle fabric to make a cot quilt out of. I just haven't been able to find anything I like in the shops. I am thinking of matching it with a nice blue cotton on the back and maybe some cushions out of denim with the car fabric as a detail as well??
I also got some other bits and pieces, some lovely Japanese girl fabric which I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do with, but every time I see it I just love it.I also got a few fat quarters from the stitches and craft show a few weeks ago and my new button cover order has arrived so hopefully once bubs room is sorted and I finish Sax's curtains (that's a whole other story) I will have some time to make some cute little pony tail holders. On other news's Sax started daycare yesterday and I have to say I think he did better than me, we had the tears and he hung on like a koala but the biggest shock of all was he even had a day time sleep there (something we fight at home just about every day!!!) and then when I went to pick him up in the afternoon he didn't even want to come home and has been asking all day today when he can go back to 'school'. So cute ;) I have to say after two years of having him with me 24/7 it was SO great to be able to visit the shops and just worry about what I wanted to do.

I have also been meaning to share this pic of what the Easter Bunny brought Sax this year (we decided he would get enough crap from the rest of the family). It is a fantastic Jetta's Nest Robot T-shirt and he absolutely LOVES it!!! Thanks sam xxx

Ok, better go do a quick tidy before DH is home and the little man is awake

Take care, Bel x

It's a boy!

Hi All

Sorry for the slackness in also not posting for a while, it’s taken me a few weeks to ease into 2009 and catch up with how fast its going by already :)

So for those of you that don’t already know, I too am pregnant and due in June this year (us EmBelISH girls don’t do anything in halves ;) We found out yesterday that we are having another little boy and all is going well, which is great news. As hubby and I have decided that we only want two children I have to say I felt a little bit disappointed yesterday with the news of another boy, all these thoughts flashed through my head, no dancing lessons or making cute little costumes, no having someone to share girly stuff with (even though I have to say I am not overly girly anyway) and that my life is going to be mainly male dominated and there will be extra smelly footy socks and dirty rooms to clean up and I won’t be able to buy all those cute pink frilly things I have been secretly converting on ETSY for the last weeks.

Oh well, lucky for me my fellow BrisStylers make a wide range of super cute boy thing and that our current little man Saxon is going to have a constant companion and best mate to grow up with.

Anyway that’s enough about me; check out some of the very cool boy’s things I happen to come across in my new search of all things blue and boyish! Looks like my credit card might be getting a bit of a workout after all...

1. Holy Pow Boardshort Bloomers! By Bettsy Kingston (these are just too cute)
2. Cheeky Monster T-shirt by Jettasnest (these monsters are just adorable)
3. Neon Blue - Dottie Baby Booties by Pedrosprout (What little boy doesn’t need his own cool pair of booties)
4. Baggy Shorts, Carp Fish by Hot Fudge (I LOVE this fabric!!!!)

Plus in other news, we are currently changing Sax’s room around into a space/robot theme (I will post some pics soon, promise) I can’t believe he will be 2! in a couple of weeks. The Dinosaur (or Dinodoor as Sax says) invites have gone out and my mum arrives on the Friday before to give me a hand so now I just need to work out the cake pattern and stuff the goodie bags and we are all good.

We are also off to a friend of ours from Playgroups 2 years old birthday on the weekend so I better get off the computer and start sewing that fairy cape I promised...
Take care, Bel xx
