Hoot Hoot!

Yep its that time of year again when the Brown Owls start their meet ups again. I have to say apart from the rainy weather I had such a lovely morning today catching up with some 'old' owls as well as meeting some lovely new ones. I think it is going to be an exciting year ahead.
And what better excuse is there than a morning tea to do some baking. Today I made some yummy Carrot and Pineapple cakes with Cream Cheese Frosting and I have to say they were yum!
What's that I hear you ask? Where did you get those absolutely adorable cupcake wrappers, well none other than an amazing ETSY store called 'Go Make Me'. I insist you go right there now and check it out they have the cutest downloadable cards and stationary. I made a few purchases a couple of weeks ago and cant wait to try some more out ;)

Hope you've had a happy weekend

Some new creations...

Well in between making orders this week I have also been having a play with some new ideas...Brown Owl's have their first catch up this weekend, so some cupcakes are definitely in order for morning tea. I am thinking little hummingbird cakes with cream cheese icing but we will have to see ;)
Playing with those letters got me thinking it would be cool to have words etc on cupcakes, so I will be listing both the Alphabet and Numbers in the store your choice of colours/combination for $6.95 for 12 and then only 50c a character after that in the next few days.
And with Easter just a hop, skip and a jump around the corner the email's have started coming in for Easter orders so at this stage we have some cute little bunnies holding carrots and some mini bunnies which look super cute on mini cupcakes. I think Sax might be taking some of these along to kindy

I do have some other idea's I've been working on including a lady bug and a mobile phone but struggling to get good pics as its overcast and rainy here, maybe on the weekend the sun will come out

Have a good one, Bel x

Also don't forget I will be launching Enticing Icing at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market on March 6th so if you are a local pop on down and say hi and if there are any designs you are interested in let me know and you can collect on the day to save on postage ;)

The week that was...

Well its been one of those full on weeks at our place... Sunday was Xavier and Elijah's Christening and it was a really lovely service and great day shared with our friends and family :) (I dont have any pics of Elijah but will get Em to post some soon ;)The week was spent hanging out with my brother and doing some op shopping. I picked up and old metal Janome sewing machine for only $30 (so now I just have to brush up on my sewing skills) as well as some other cool finds, including an old tea towel my brother brought for me which I am going to frame and hang in our house. I was also lucky enough to spend some crafty time with my super talented Bro and get a headstart on making some stock for the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market coming up on December 5th.

Talking of framing I had the surprise of my life this week when I received an email from the lovely Alicea from Bespoke Press to say that I was the winner of their amazing giveaway of 10 limited edition Prints. I never win ANYTHING, so to not only win but to receive this amazing prize as you can imagine I was pretty excited!!! You can view the entire range via their website or shop

Em and I also got the chance to catch up a couple of times this week which was really nice as we really haven't had the chance to hang out as much as we use to lately. Our little ones were happy just hanging around
While their older brothers did some Caterpillar making with my brother Brett
Today I went and hung out with the super cool Brown Owls girls and got the chance to make some really cute little paper dolls and the amazing Sam from Jettas nest brought along an order for Em and I for some onesies and T-shirts for our boys. If you are looking for a one off gift for a little boy you know make sure you go and visit Sam's shop to see her unbelievable work!
All in all even though I am really exhausted this week it was so nice to just spend some time with friends and family enjoying each others company and some good food...
Take care, Bel x

The week that has been....

This week has been pretty busy (well no more than usual actually).

I have put my hand up to "teach" a granny square crocheting class at our Brown Owls meet this weekend, so I thought after writing the instructions I had better whip up a few grannies to ensure I still knew how to make them (heheee).

I have also been trying to make my "Saucy Apron Recipe" Apron from the famous Louise from Made by Miffy. But guess what - I short-ordered my contrast material (ugh) so off to spotty this morning to hopefully find something suitable.

Also Bel & I started the ABC of cake decorating class at TAFE this week, it was fun, but I am sure that I will probably be put in the naughty corner before the end of the 6wk course! I just couldnt help giggling whenever the room was dead silent. I know I am childish! It was all a bit serious really, talk of exams and certificates, passes & fails!! Bel & I just want to learn how to make some sweet little flowers to pop on top of our cuppy-cakes!

Well must get a wriggle on, planning to get the ingredients togther this morning so Master Lucas and I can make some Anzac biscuits.

Have a great friday everyone, and I will see u back here on Sunday for our weekly Shadow Shot!

Fabric Stamping and a prototype Bag

I have been thinking that fabric stamping is very cool for a long time, so during the week, Lucas and I donned our smocks and got out a rubber stamp and some calico and my paints and made this lovely piece of hand-stamped fabric.

After he had gone to bed that night, and I was very tired, but couldnt sleep, I decided that I would make a bag out of the fabric as a test run for the one that I am making at our Brown Owl's meetup on Sunday. Here it is, fully lined, cute vintage button. A bit rough but I like it as it was made with heaps of love. Glad I tried it out too as the one I make on Sunday is for transporting all my Owlie loveliness to and from our catch-ups so I will have to make it a bit deeper to fit all the bits and pieces I need in there!

Have a good day and I will be back tomorrow for shadow shot.

I feel like I have accomplished lots today, Have made 2 loaves of banana bread and a batch of cornflake cookies are in the oven. My lovely Physio El is on her way up to fix my exscruciating hip/neck/back problem (which has been in turn causing a mega headache) and then it will be off to vote. Then we have some clients coming over for a meeting this afternoon. So another busy day! But I love weekends

See you all tomorrow for SSS

What's been happening around here

Hi everyone!!

Well time flies. It seems that it is almost the end of another week and I know I am not the only one watching the days/weeks/months fly past in a blur.

Bel & I will both be swaddling our new little bundles in only a matter of months (exciting but scary all the same)....

Here's what has been happening at my place this week (and last)
Lucas has been toilet training (see supplies pic below)

I had a day of non-stop cleaning the first day, but after that he has actually really suprised me at how quickly he has picked it all up, what a treasure. He even jumped out of the wave pool at Wet 'n Wild yesterday and told me he had to do a wee, so we ran to the garden and to my delight (not the hovering groundsmans) he did his first "bush wee"

I also visited the good old Spotlight 20% off sale and got myself some lovely fabric.

The japanese looking one and the red are for the new baby's nappy bag and the green cutting board stuff (which i adore) and the flowers are for my tote bag project for this weekend's Brown Owl's meet-up.

I also thought I would share these beauties that my sister gave to me from Funky Fabrix for my birthday, just can't decide what to do with them, and look at the divine bakelite buttons.

As Lucas is having a sleep it is time for me to run around with my magic wand, so I will chat to you all soon, have a great rest of the week and keep safe.

A better end to the week & a Proximidade Award!

Well after a pretty rough start to the week, can I say that it ended on a much lovelier note :)Firstly a huge THANKS to LittleDiva for nominating us for a Proximidade Award.
It works like this:

These blogs invest and believe in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes for self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!
The rules are: This blog award should be sent to your favorite eight bloggers and they, in turn should forward to eight of their favorites. You should include the text for Proximidade (above) in your announcement blog.
So now it is our turn to hand out the award. For creating interesting, funny and addictive blogs, we nominate:
13Mimosa

Secondly Em and I attended the very first Brisbane Brown Owls meet up on Sunday and had a really lovely morning.

I brought along some morning tea (really just an excuse to spend some 'kid free' time in the kitchen and make use of my cupcake courier) and even had fun experimenting making some little owl cupcakes, which was great fun.

Alot of us made some cute little owl brooches from a kit made up by Abbey...and I even go the time to finish some toys that I had started for the toy society drive for the kids affected by the Victorian bush fires.Coming home from such a great morning, I was all inspried to do a bit more baking and being my mum's last night of her visit with us I made a yummy Bacon, Tomato and Asparagus Tart for dinner and also a couple of jars of homemade pesto as the Basil we have in the garden has got a bit wild lately.
I even had the time to sit down to make my little one a brooch of his very own as he keep wanting to wear the EmBelISH owl one I had worn for the day (boys can wear brooches cant they?) Hope this week is just as good :)

Shadow Shot Sunday #26

Hi everyone,

Well its that time of the week again, Shadow Shot Sunday! Yayyyyy

My Shot this week is of what we call a "leaf hopper" he was quite happily sitting in the sun on our front verandah. I love these bugs because truly they look like leaves! You have to be careful because they have a bit of a bite on them! See other shadow shots here

Bel & I are off to our very first Brown Owls meetup today too which is pretty exciting too, can't wait to meet all the other like minded crafty owls in the Brisbane area!

Have a great weekend everyone, and enjoy your week.

Look out next week for a giveaway on our blog, we have almost reached our 100th post, how exciting!
